See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

Uhhh pinned post go

I am;

A bi-lesbian pan-ace otherkin nonbinary trans woman a part of an endo system. Our vessel is fat, transfem, disabled, autistic, and a whole lot of other mental illnesses.

If you don’t like these things about us we wont like you. Also log off tumblr sometime and actually talk to some real life queer/plural folk instead of your exclusionary bullshit.

Pinned Post if I see one more anti endo y'all are gonna get it sick of this shit making this post specifically to ward off bigots so yes I'm being inflammatory on purpose i was going to be more comprehensive but idk I figure I'd list the big things people love to hate prolly adding more as things become relevant seriously what y'all got against endo systems y'all are literally the terfs of plural systems tried to make an acronym but only got up to endo exclusive radial I'm not putting effort into a name for bigots. oh right it's like transmeds for systems sysmeds fuck off

it would be fascinating to do a linguistic analysis of the way caliborn uses periods

like, for one thing, he tends to use them at the boundaries of longer phrases. in general, if most people would use a comma somewhere, caliborn will use a period instead. but he'll also insert periods in places where most people wouldn't pause at all

that said, he doesn't just put them anywhere. he usually doesn't break up shorter phrases. for example, he generally wouldn't put a period between an adjective and the noun it modifies

god, i would love to dig deep into this and work out all the "rules" of caliborn's syntax. i could easily write a whole paper on this subject. it would arguably not be a great use of my time, but i could

hell, not just caliborn — it would be fascinating to analyze how homestuck uses language as a vehicle for characterization in general. not in the content of what the characters say (though there's tons to analyze there too) but in the way different characters use different syntactic constructions and make different orthographic and stylistic choices

like, there's a lot about the typing quirks that are obvious. karkat is ornery, so he TYPES IN ALL CAPS AS IF HE'S YELLING. sollux has a duality theme, so he replaces the letter S with the number 2. etc.

but there are more subtle impacts, too. for example, i would bet that rose averages way more words per line than dave does. that's partially because rose is excessively loquacious. but it's also because dave's lack of punctuation means that the only way he has to break up his text is with line breaks, so unlike rose he'll often split his sentences into multiple lines

and then there's things like characters modifying their word choices to shoehorn in their gimmicks more. so equius has more "oo" sounds in his text because he's always looking for places to use the numbers 100 or 001. vriska and aranea use a lot of words that rhyme with "ate". calliope uses british spelling seemingly solely so that she can use more 'u's. etc.

and then there's the fact that the characters are written the same way when they're speaking out loud as when they're typing, so their "typing quirks" are implied to reflect the way they speak. dave doesn't use punctuation in text, and likewise in person he rambles on and on without pause. sollux's '2's represent his lisp, and go away when he loses his teeth and stops lisping. and so on

all of this together gives all the characters distinct "sounds" to their voices even without being voiced at all, and i just think that's so cool. homestuck is an incredible demonstration of how to give all of your characters unique voices. there is just so much there you could look at, from a linguistic perspective

love shit like this homestuck
